I can't change my noteskin in-game

I am new to playing and I am having trouble changing my skin in-game.

I change the skin in the settings but when I go to the song select and I preview or play a song it is still the default. I have even tried restarting the game and it says I am using the one I selected but the default keeps showing up when I start playing.

I need help, I am not sure what to do.

if you are changing it in the main menu options that is not the right place to do it

press enter twice on a song to find the right settings menu
and dont press escape to leave that menu unless you are trying to cancel your changes
also if your noteskin has spaces in the name it wont let you use it
